When reading aloud to your child, allow your child to look at the book with you. Use your finger to slide along the words as you read. This will help your child to hear and see the words at the same time. When you get to a sight word your child is learning, pause while pointing to the word. Ask your child to read the word! This lets your child see that the sight words they are memorizing are used all the time. Plus it gives a little extra sight word practice while reading aloud.
